Murder at Magic Lake--Pre-Orders Up!

I've taken the plunge and set up pre-orders for Murder at Magic Lake. The official publishing date is September 15th, three weeks from today. Pre-orders are currently only available for the eBook; I'm still waiting for the paperback cover from the designer, but it should be ready soon. Since this is a new series, I'm running a special promotion price of $0.99 through September 22nd. Click here for the universal book link. The eBook is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, Apple, and Google Play. Here's the blurb:

After losing her job, twenty-nine-year-old Abigail Ritter isn’t looking forward to returning to her hometown of Magic Lake, Wisconsin, for her grandmother’s birthday party. All she has to offer her family is her own special fruit juice and tea blend. But when Grandma suffers a fatal accident in her apartment building, The Grand, Abigail’s cousin Brian is blamed. Abigail will have to step up and investigate with the help of her best friend Sam, an intriguing detective, and a magical stuffed fox named Sherlock. Abigail’s got a plan for the Grand and its shuttered restaurant, but will she solve the case or drown in a sea of suspects?

Hidden Histories Anthology Available for Pre-Order!

A while ago, I mentioned that my short story, "Specimen 1842," had been accepted for an anthology called Hidden Histories. The Kindle version is available for pre-order and will be published on April 15th. (A trade paperback should be available later; when I have more information; I'll share it with you.) You can order it at the link above. Here's the description on Amazon (which is where I also got the cover):

Third Flatiron Anthologies feature multiple winners of science fiction and fantasy reader polls and recommended reading lists.

Hidden Histories is a new speculative fiction anthology with the themes of alternate and secret (shadow) histories.

In Hidden Histories, agents of the ancient Library of Alexandria attempt to steer human history, a witch at the stake explains how she was framed, a missing airliner black box turns up, General Custer is defeated by wendigos, Queen Elizabeth tells Shakespeare she was cursed, a seance saves the Apollo-13 moon mission, an alien ambassador mentors Jimi Hendrix, a competing ship line plots to scuttle the Titanic, were-boars fight Nazis in WW2 Germany, the back room of a bookstore holds histories written in the future, and a girl learns the true history of Chinese dragons. These and many more stories entertain while exploring revisionist interpretations of real and fictional events.

Hidden Histories presents 28 original stories from an international group
of contributors. Writers include Bruce Golden, Matthew Reardon, Brenda
Kezar, Kai Hudson, Brian Trent, Jonathan Shipley, Dantzel Cherry,

Summon the Seasons--Cover Reveal and Preorder Links

I haven't prepared the proof copy of Summon the Seasons yet, since I need to reread it to make sure I'm not going to change the page count. However, I do have the eBook cover Maria Zannini designed for me, so I'm going to reveal it to you now:

Kay looks very mysterious, doesn't she?

Once I'm ready to order the paper proof, I'll show you the full cover. Maria did a great job incorporating story elements into the back cover. In the meantime, I have pre-orders available for the eBook at $2.99 on the following sites:

Amazon
Apple
Barnes and Noble
Kobo

There's still time to catch up with the series before the final book becomes available. You can find the previous books at your favorite eBook retailers using these universal book links:

Fifth Season Available for Pre-Order!

Fifth Season, Book Four of The Season Avatars, is coming November 28th, just in time for Cyber Monday (unless it's ready sooner), for $3.99. You can order the eBook through this universal buy link, which will take you to your favorite store. The Amazon, Apple, and Kobo links are live as of yesterday afternoon; hopefully Barnes and Noble will soon go live as well.

I've tweaked the blurb slightly, so here's the new version:

Ysabel became the Goddess of Fall’s Avatar to care for animals, but her kind heart may prove fatal to her loved ones.

When a pair of strange animals, part bird and part lizard, invade the country of Challen during a magical weather storm, Ysabel must learn if they’re ordinary creatures or if they’re connected to Salth, the Season Avatars’ sworn enemy. However, the clawfeet are resistant to her magic.

After tragedy strikes the Avatars, Ysabel comes up with a desperate plan to allow all twelve of them to face Salth together as required by the Four Gods and Goddesses of Challen. Jealousy, however, tears an ally from the Avatars during their most vulnerable time as even more beasts rise against them. If Ysabel cannot control the strange animals and use justice as well as mercy, she will not only lose her position as Avatar but the people she loves.

Chaos Season--Cover Reveal and Preorder

Maria Zannini of The Book Diva just put the finishing touches on the cover of Chaos Season. At last I can reveal it to you:

I particularly like the way the deathbush loops over the spine. Thanks, Maria!

As if the cover reveal isn't exciting enough, Chaos Season is now available on Amazon, Kobo, and iTunes for preorder! (Preorder should be available soon for Barnes and Noble.) I originally planned to publish this book on the summer solstice, but since then I decided to make it available a little earlier so readers can post reviews before I post ads for the summer solstice. (If I'm able to get the proof edited quickly enough, I may have paper books available at WisCon. Keep your fingers crossed!) Price is $3.99 for the ebook. Sorry, no introductory price special this time, but there may be some for the first two books in the series.

Come back soon for more book news!

Scattered Seasons Cover Reveal and Pre-Order Available!

Yesterday, I received the final front cover of Scattered Seasons from Maria Zannini of Book Cover Diva. Ready to feast your eyes on it?

 Here's the description:

Lady Gwendolyn lo Havil is an Ava Spring, born to heal others and lead the Season Avatars of her generation. Season Avatars with divine magic must work in groups of four to save the country of Challen from Chaos Season, times when all of the seasons appear at once. When the current Ava Spring dies in a riding accident, Gwen must find the other three Season Avatars she will link with.  But two of them are missing, and with Gwen's own magic crippled by a cursed pottery shard, she will have to use all of her skills to find the Avatars scattered across the country of Challen. During her journey, she meets a stranger who claims to know the shard's origin. Is he truly an ally of the Season Avatars, or is he trying to stop them from uniting?

I have officially made this available as a pre-order on Amazon and on other channels through Draft2Digital. (Links will be posted here and on my website as soon as they are available.) Scattered Seasons will go live on April 28, 2015. (I figure it will be my birthday gift to the world.) From now through May 6, 2015, you can buy it for $0.99. After that, the price goes up to $2.99.
