A-Z: Door to Door Organics

If you like organic food and want to support local farmers without leaving your house, then Door to Door Organics might be for you. They are a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) active in five U.S. regions (see the website for specific details). Each week, they bring a box of organic fruits and vegetables to your door. You can choose the size of the box and what you want (fruits, vegetables, or both). They also allow you to make substitutions. We've been using their service for a couple of months now and like it. The quality is good, and the price seems reasonable. Since it's not possible to grow some types of produce year-round in the Chicago area, some of the food does come from California or even Mexico. I expect that we'll be getting more local food in the summer.

Every month, I get five referrals to give to friends so they can get their first box half off. If you live in one of the supported regions and would like to try this service, please leave your e-mail in the Comment section below. First come, first served.

I live in France and some of the produce sold at our markets (the outdoor market) is BIO, which is nice. I don't think people here would subscribe to a delivery service, even the older ones, because going to the market on Sat. is tradition. (I LOVE going...)

These guys sound like a great company to make use of - I wonder if there's an equivalent in Aus?! I love organic food & supporting local farmers, etc.

In my area we pick up the produce at the local farmer's market. It's not all organic but I feel strongly about supporting our local farms.

Are organic bananas healthier for you than regular bananas? I've bought both before and cannot taste the difference.
