Science of the Week, 3/22/13

Here are some of the most interesting science news articles I read this week:

Origins of human teamwork found in chimpanzees

Record simulations on supercomputer Sequoia

Wearable secondhand sensor built at Dartmouth

Electrons are not enough: cuprate superconductors defy convention

How proteins read meta DNA code

Wireless, implanted sensor broadens range of brain research

Oil use, greenhouse gas from cars could drop 80% by 2050

New database lets normal docs help speed genetic discoveries

Artificial cells may produce proteins on demand

Creepy violins can mimic human voice (sounds like inspiration for a story to me!)

Have a good weekend, and see you Monday!

  1. Reducing oil consumption by eighty percent in less than forty years? We'll have to work hard to hit that one. Although did you hear about the new car from VW, available in Europe only at the moment, that gets over two hundred miles to the gallon?

  2. Well yeah oil use will drop by 2050 because we won't have any oil left. Or what we have will only be able to be bought by the three wealthiest people in the world.

  3. The car sounds vaguely familiar to me, Alex. I think it would be more useful over here than in Europe.

PT, I think you figured it out!
