Amazon announced yesterday that library lending is finally available for the Kindle. It's starting out slowly at first, with about 11,000 libraries participating and about 25,000 titles available to be borrowed. My local library does lend out e-books for the Nook and other devices, but as of yesterday afternoon, their website said Kindle lending wasn't available. I think it's supposed to come soon; the question is how many of those 25,000 books will be in my favorite genre.
It seems that the differences between the Nook and the Kindle are rapidly disappearing. Is this new Kindle feature going to affect your book reading habits or your e-reader preference?
If I could borrow books without having to go to the library that would be a lot more convenient.
ReplyDeleteI think you can just download e-books to your computer and then transfer it to your Kindle. Of course, my son would miss playing in the children's area and eating in the cafe.
ReplyDeleteFascinating. I just recently bought a Nook and one of the reasons was the library lending thing. Amazon is hell-bent on driving Barnes and Noble out of business.
ReplyDeleteThe main reason I picked the nook over the Kindle was because of getting library books. But now that I have a nook, I don't see me getting a Kindle too. (If they had done this last year, I would have had a more difficult time deciding which one to get.)
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited about Amazon e-book lending. I love reading on my Kindle.
