It depends on what the problem is. In this particular case, the book is about two characters who are hybrids between humans and "deepsman," who live in the ocean. But although the deepsmen come from the sea, they swim in fresh water, which they would not be able to tolerate. I can suspend some disbelief, but scientific errors drive me bonkers.
Oh I can definitely see that. There are some books I just set aside because of things like that. (Which is saying a lot because I obsessive enough that I have to finish everything I start...)
I have a tendency to remember what I disliked about the books reading was like pulling teeth. By the same token, I also remember the really good books like a wonderful dream.
I think I'm the opposite. I tend to completely forget what it was I didn't like about a story.
